Morman and Schneider Earns UAA Honor

St. Louis, Mo., October 26, 2010 – The Washington University in St. Louis football team had two student-athletes earn University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week honors, as announced by the Association.
Junior punter Austin Morman earned Special Teams Athlete of the Week honors, while senior defensive lineman John Schneider picked up Defensive Athlete of the Week accolades.
Morman averaged 45.8 yards on six punts and 66.0 on five kickoffs in the Bears’ 21-7 victory over Oberlin College on Saturday. Morman, who landed one punt inside the 20 and had a long of 52, leads the UAA and is 10th in Division III averaging 41.5 yards per punt.
Schneider, who earned UAA Special Teams Athlete of the Week honors a week ago, made a career-high nine tackles in the win against Oberlin. Schneider’s career day also included 3.5 tackles for loss, a sack and a blocked 37-yard field goal attempt in the first quarter.
Washington University (5-2) opens UAA play at home against Carnegie Mellon University on Saturday, Oct. 30, at Noon. Prior to the game, Washington U. will honor its 17 seniors.
