Washington U.’s Brandon Rogalski Named D3Baseball.com Preseason All-American
2012 PRESEASON ALL-AMERICA TEAM
St. Louis, Mo., January 19, 2012 – Washington University in St. Louis senior outfielder Brandon Rogalski was named to the D3Baseball.com 2012 preseason first-team All-America team, as announced by the website.
Rogalski, who was the only University Athletic Assocation (UAA) student-athlete named to the D3Baseball.com preseason All-America team, enters his final season at Washington U. after earning first-team All-America honors from both the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and D3Baseball.com last season. He is just the third student-athlete in Washington U. program history to earn first-team All-America honors.
In 2011, Rogalski also received the ABCA/Rawlings National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Central Region Player of the Year, and was a first-team All-UAA and NCBWA All-Central Region selection. Recently, Rogalski was named the Best College Athlete of 2011 by the Riverfront Times.
Last season Rogalski broke a number of Washington University school records, including setting new single-season marks for hits (74) and RBIs (60) while batting .438 and slugging .722. Over the final six games of the 2011 season, he hit .583 with 17 RBIs and 11 runs scored. He finished the season ranked ninth in Division III in RBIs, 12th in doubles (20), 14th in total bases (122) and hits, 21st in batting average, 26th in stolen bases (28) and 41st in runs scored (49), while also tallying six home runs and five triples.
Rogalski helped lead Washington U. to a 29-17 overall record in 2011, with the 46 games played representing a new single-season school record. The Bears are scheduled to open their 2012 campaign by hosting DePauw University on Feb. 25-26, at Kelly Field at Irv Utz Stadium.
