Drew Hargrave, Jonathan Jebson Named UAA Athletes of the Week
St. Louis, Mo., October 9, 2012 – Washington University in St. Louis senior Drew Hargrave and junior Jonathan Jebson received University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week honors for their respective sports as announced Tuesday by the Association.
Hargrave was named the UAA Volleyball Offensive Athlete of the Week for the second time this season after leading the No. 1-ranked volleyball team to five wins last week. She posted a .440 hitting percentage and averaged 4.00 kills per set to help the Bears improve to 21-1 on the season. Hargrave had a team-best 21 kills in a win at Webster on Oct. 3, marking her third match of 20-plus kills this season. She currently ranks first in the UAA 3.75 kills per set, and 10th in the conference with a .283 hitting percentage in 2012. Hargrave also received UAA Athlete of the Week honors on Sept. 17.
Jebson was selected as the UAA Men’s Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week for the third time this season. He picked up his fifth shutout of the season and 14th of his career with a 1-0 win over Emory University on Oct. 7. Jebson made six saves in goal against the Eagles, shutting down the Emory offense that entered the contest averaging 2.55 goals per game. He leads the UAA this season in save percentage (.878), saves per game (3.60) and shutouts (5), while ranking second in goals against average (0.52) and saves (36). Jebson was also named the UAA Defensive Athlete of the Week on Sept. 10 and Sept. 17.
