No. 22 Wheaton Hands Bears 2-0 Loss on the Road

Wheaton, Ill., September 25, 2010 – Jamie Orewiler recorded a goal and an assist to lead No. 22 ranked Wheaton College to a 2-0 victory over the Washington University in St. Louis women’s soccer team on Saturday night in Wheaton, Ill. The loss for the Bears was their fourth-straight.
Orewiler gave Wheaton an early 1-0 lead in the 14th minute after she drilled a 20-yard free kick past sophomore goalkeeper Caitlin Heim. The goal for Orewiler was her first of the season.
The Thunder built the lead to 2-0 five minutes into the second half after Brittany Bergh scored on an assist from Orewiler. Wheaton outshot Washington University, 27-11, and had a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Heim made the start in goal for the Bears, and allowed one goal and made a career-high six saves. Sophomore Clara Jaques played the second half and made one save and allowed a goal.
Washington University (3-5) returns to action on Thursday, Sept. 30, against Principia College. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. at Francis Field.
Bear Notebook: Wheaton leads the all-time series with Washington U., 8-4-1 … The two teams met in the Regional semifinals a year ago, with the Bears advancing in a shootout … Washington University has not lost four-consecutive games since 2001.
