Washington University's Anne Diaz-Arrastia and Andrew Dwoskin Receive UAA Athlete of the Week Honors
St. Louis, Mo., May 22, 2012 – Washington University in St. Louis junior Anne Diaz-Arrastia and sophomore Andrew Dwoskin were each selected as University Athletic Association (UAA) Athletes of the Week, as announced by the Association.
Diaz-Arrastia was named the UAA Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career after placing in two events at the Gregory Invitational on May 17-18. She recorded a career-best leap of 5.65 meters to finish fifth in the long jump. The mark moved Diaz-Arrastia into second on the Washington University all-time list. She added a fourth-place finish in the triple jump with a season-best mark of 11.79m, which qualified her for the 2012 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships.
Dwoskin received his first-career UAA Baseball Athlete of the Week honors after leading Washington University in a pair of NCAA Division III Central Regional games May 16 and 17. He batted .600 (3-for-5) with a pair of home runs, three RBIs and two runs, while finishing with a 1.800 slugging percentage. Dwoskin hit his first home run of the season in a pinch-hit situation against Webster University on May 16. The following day with the Bears trailing Illinois Wesleyan University 3-0 in the ninth inning, he hit his second round-tripper in as many games, a two-run shot off the foul pole in left field. Dwoskin also walked twice in the regional for an on-base percentage of .714.
