Washington University’s Elizabeth Phillips and Brandon Rogalski Earn UAA Athlete of the Week Honors
St. Louis, Mo., March 27, 2012 – Washington University in St. Louis seniors Elizabeth Phillips and Brandon Rogalski each earned University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the week honors, as announced Monday by the Association.
Phillips picked up her first UAA Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honor of the season after a career-best performance at the Washington U. Mini Meet. She clocked a time of 17:15.50 to win the women’s 5,000 meters at the Bears’ first outdoor meet of 2012. Phillips’ time ranks second in NCAA Division III this season.
Rogalski earned UAA Baseball Athlete of the Week for the second time this season after leading Washington U. to five wins last week. He batted a team-best .615 (16-for-26), while recording multiple hits in all five wins for the Bears. Rogalski finished 4-for-5 at the plate in wins over Webster University and the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. He tallied four RBIs and a team-high eight runs, while also finishing 5-for-5 in stolen-base attempts.
With his performances, Rogalski moved into third on Washington U.’s all-time career hits list (183), fifth in career stolen bases (44), sixth in career doubles (38), and seventh in career RBIs (121).
