Washington U.’s Connor Duermit, Matt Tracy Selected UAA Athletes of the Week
St. Louis, Mo., March 25, 2013 – Washington University in St. Louis sophomore Connor Duermit of the men’s outdoor track & field team and senior Matt Tracy of the baseball team were each selected as the University Athletic Association (UAA) Athletes of the Week for their respective sports, as announced Monday by the Association.
Duermit was named the UAA Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week after posting a career-best throw in the javelin at the WUSTL Mini Meet Friday, March 22. He recorded the second-best javelin throw in school history, placing second with a toss of 58.58 meters. The mark was more than six meters better than his previous career long, and moved him to second on the Washington U. all-time leaderboard behind school record-holder Keith England (61.00m).
Tracy was selected as the UAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week after tossing his first-career shutout in Washington U.’s 1-0 win over St. Norbert College Saturday, March 23. Tracy pitched his second complete game of the season, and third of his career, to earn the win. He allowed just six hits and recorded four strikeouts in the game.
