David Chao Named University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week

St. Louis, Mo., November 9, 2010 — Senior David Chao of the Washington University in St. Louis men’s swimming and diving team was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week, as announced Tuesday by the Association.

Chao finished first in three events to lead Washington University to a 147-89 victory over the University of Chicago on Saturday, Nov. 6, at the Millstone Pool in St. Louis, Mo.

Chao, who was named the CollegeSwimming.com Division III Counsilman Hunsaker National Swimmer of the Week just a week ago, finished first in the 50-yard freestyle (21.51) and the 100-yard freestyle (47.59) against Chicago. He also teamed with senior Kartik Anjur, freshman Brian Carpenter and senior Michael Flanagan to take first in the men’s 400-medley relay (3:32.57).

The Washington University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams return to action for the Washington University Thanksgiving Invitational, to be held Saturday-Sunday, Nov. 20-21, at MICDS High School in Ladue, Mo.
