Clara Jaques and Jen Reed Named UAA Athlete of the Week

St. Louis, Mo., November 7, 2011 – Washington University in St. Louis junior goalkeeper Clara Jaques and sophomore back Jen Reed earned University Athletic Association (UAA) Women’s Soccer Athlete of the Week honors, as announced Monday by the Association.

Jaques made six saves and picked up her fifth shutout of the year as the No. 14 ranked Bears posted a 1-0 win over No. 25 University of Chicago on Saturday in Chicago, Ill. Jaques has a 15-4 overall record and a0.84 goals against average, allowing 15 goals in 1,613 minutes played this season.

Reed scored an unassisted goal from 35 yards out in the 76th minute in the Bears’ 1-0 win at Chicago on Saturday. The goal for Reed was the third of the season and fourth of her career, and secured Washington U. a second-place finish in the UAA standings with a 5-2 record.

Washington University (15-4) hosts NCAA First and Second Round action on Saturday-Sunday, Nov. 12-13, at Francis Field. The Bears take on Thomas More College on Saturday at 5 p.m., in the first round. Washington U. is making its sixth-straight and 11th overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
