Washington U.'s Jonathan Jebson and William Small Receive UAA Athlete of the Week Honors
St. Louis, Mo., November 5, 2012 – Washington University in St. Louis junior Jonathan Jebson and senior William Small were each named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Athletes of the Week for their respective sports, as announced Monday by the Association.
Jebson was selected as the UAA Men’s Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week for the fourth time this season. He recorded seven saves, while posting his eighth shutout of the season and 17th of his career, in the Bears’ 0-0 double-overtime draw against University of Chicago Saturday. Jebson dropped his UAA-leading goals against average to 0.57 for the season, while increasing his league-best save percentage to .866. He was also named the UAA Men’s Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week Sept. 10 and 17, and Oct. 8.
Small became the fifth Washington U. student-athlete this season to be named the UAA Football Defensive Athlete of the Week. He had six tackles, three quarterback hurries, 1.5 sacks, 1.5 tackles for loss and a forced fumble in the Bears’ 10-7 win at Case Western Reserve University Saturday. With the win, Washington U. secured a share of its UAA-record ninth conference championship. Small and the Bears’ defense limited Case to a season-low 184 yards of total offense in the win.
