Senior Men's Swimmer David Chao Named UAA Athlete of the Week
St. Louis, Mo., November 23, 2010 – Senior David Chao of the Washington University in St. Louis men’s swimming & diving team earned University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week honors, as announced Tuesday by the conference office.
Chao earned a top-four finish in seven events at the Washington University Thanksgiving Invitational last weekend in St. Louis, Mo. He won the 200-yard freestyle (1:44.24), finished as the runner-up in the 50-yard free (21.68) and the 100-yard free (47.57) and came in third in the 200-free (1:28.86). In relay action, Chao was a member of Washington University’s third-place 800-free relay (7:10.73), third-place 400-free relay (3:14.05) and fourth-place 200-medley relay (1:39.13) teams.
Washington University finished fourth at the WU Thanksgiving Invitational with a team score of 613 points while NAIA member Lindenwood University won the men’s meet with a final tally of 1,143.5 points.
The Washington University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams close out their fall semester with the Wheaton College Invitational, to be held Friday-Saturday, Dec. 3-4, in Wheaton, Ill.
