Junior Dan Davis Named University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week
St. Louis, Mo., January 24, 2011 – Junior Dan Davis of the men’s indoor track and field team earned University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week honors, as announced Monday by the conference office.
Davis became the second Washington University athlete in as many weeks to set a new school record and meet 2011 NCAA Division III provisional qualifying standards in the 60-meter hurdles.
He posted a school-record tying time of 8.32 in the 60-meter hurdle preliminaries at the Illinois College Snowbird Open on Saturday, Jan. 22, in Jacksonville, Ill., matching the record set by classmate Tyler Jackson at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Double Dual meet last weekend in Terre Haute, Ind.
The Washington University men’s indoor track and field team placed first out of 17 squads at the Snowbird Open with a team score of 118.5 points.
The Washington U. men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams will both be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 29, for the Rose-Hulman Engineer Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind., at 12:30 p.m.
