Men’s and Women’s Tennis Headed to UAA Championship

St. Louis, Mo., April 24, 2012 — The Washington University in St. Louis men’s and women’s tennis teams will take part in the 2012 University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship on Thursday-Sunday, April 26-29, at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla. The University of Chicago will serve as the host of both championships.
The No. 11 ranked women’s team completed regular season play with a 13-6 overall record, and enters the UAA Championship as the No. 4 seed. Washington U. takes on No. 20 ranked and No. 5 seed Brandeis University on Friday at 1:30 p.m. (ET). The Bears are vying for their first UAA Championship in school history, and took home third-place honors a year ago.
The No. 17 ranked men’s team has won seven-straight matches and has a 13-5 overall record. The Bears are seeded third of eight teams, and take on No. 6 Brandeis on Thursday at 9 a.m. (ET). Washington U. won its lone UAA title in 2009, and has taken home second-place the past two seasons.
Emory University is the defending champion on both the men’s and women’s side.
