Four Washington U. Student-Athletes to Attend 2012 Career in Sports Forum
Indianapolis, Ind., May 7, 2012 – Washington University in St. Louis will send four student-athletes to the 2012 Career in Sports Forum, held Thursday-Sunday, June 7-10, in Indianapolis, Ind. This marks the third-straight year Washington U. will be represented at the conference.
Sophomore Tim Cooney of the men’s basketball team, junior Paige Madara of the women’s tennis team, junior Sondra Polonsky of the softball team and sophomore Kylie Ziolkowski of the women’s track and field team will represent Washington U. at the four-day conference.
The NCAA National Career in Sports Forum is an educational forum where selected student-athletes will learn and explore careers in sports, sports law and sports entertainment with a primary focus on intercollegiate athletics. The forum is effectively marketing careers in coaching, administration, officiating, sports law and sports entertainment as viable professions. Additionally, the forum is working to dispel myths about careers in athletics, as well as, facilitate the opportunity to obtain information from future athletics professionals.
Kelli Blake (cross country/track and field) and Brett Sapp (men’s basketball) attended the Career in Sports Forum in 2011, while Emma Brown (women’s soccer), Marilee Fisher (volleyball) and John Meikel (football) attended in 2010.
