Pat Smith enters her 12th year as the football secretary at Washington University in St. Louis.

Among her responsibilities, she manages the office environment, maintains the player database, prepares expense vouchers and supports the 10 coaches in the program. She also maintains the recruit database and prepares football mailings.

Smith was recognized for her dedication to the success and support of WUSTL student-athletes, coaches, and families, but receiving the 2012 Gloria W. White Distinguised Service Award in a May 21 Staff Day Ceremony in Edison Theatre.

Smith has 17 years of executive secretarial work experience at various firms in the St. Louis area, followed by a stint of stay-at-home mom and preschool teacher.

A 1973 graduate of Kirkwood High School, Smith and her husband, Bob, have three children: Jenny (25), Carolyn (23) and Kevin (18). The youngest Kevin is a freshman on the baseball team at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
