Kyle Murphy begins his third season with the Washington University in St. Louis baseball team as the hitting coach.
A native of Beloit, Wis., Murphy began his collegiate baseball career at Indian Hills Community College. He was selected to the Junior College World Series All-Tournament Team in 2004 and was an honorable mention All-American selection in 2005.
Murphy graduated from the University of Kansas in 2009 with a degree in sociology. He helped Kansas win the Big 12 tournament in 2006 and was drafted by the Texas Rangers with the first pick of the 19th round in the 2007 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft.
He has conducted hitting/fielding camps, clinics and private lessons for the past five years and also works fulltime for Rawlings Sporting Goods in St. Louis, Mo.
Murphy and his wife, Laurenn, reside in St. Louis.
