Kelcey Zutavern begins her second year as the Assistant Sports Information Director at Washington University in St. Louis. Zutavern began her duties on November 7, 2011.

Zutavern arrived on the Danforth Campus after having served as the Sports Information Director at Central Methodist for four years. A native of Dunning, Neb., she joined the Central Methodist athletic staff after graduating cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Doane College in May 2008. Zutavern received her Master’s of Education degree at Central Methodist in 2010.

Zutavern’s responsibilities at Washington U. include handling all publicity for baseball, cross country, men’s soccer, swimming and diving, track and field, volleyball, women’s basketball and women’s tennis.

While at Central Methodist, Zutavern became an active member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). She currently serves on the CoSIDA Academic All-America Committee and the Female Athletic Media Relations Executives (FAME) Steering Committee.

Zutavern has also volunteered at several championship events, including the 2009 USA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships, the 2009 and 2010 NAIA Division I Men's Basketball National Championships and the 2010 NCAA DIII Volleyball National Championship.

While at Doane, Zutavern worked as a student assistant in the school's sports information department. She spent the summer of 2007 serving as an intern in the communications department at USA Track & Field in Indianapolis, Ind. Zutavern also had an internship at the Nebraska School Activities Association during her senior year at Doane.

As a member of Doane’s track & field team, Zutavern was a four-time NAIA national qualifier in the throwing events.
