Assistant Coach, Men's Basketball

John Patterson enters his third season as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Washington University in St. Louis.

Patterson, who will coach the junior varsity team and assist the varsity squad, comes off a three-year stint at Pattonville High School. He was the assistant JV coach in 2007-08, before leading the junior varsity team in 2008-09. During the 2009-10 season he served as the varsity assistant.

Patterson also has experience on the club level, serving as travel coordinator of the Illinois Bears Basketball Club from 2008-2010 and head coach of the 16U team in 2008-09 and the 17U team in 2009-10.

He received his associate of arts degree from John A. Logan College in 2004, and his bachelor’s degree in education from Fontbonne University in 2007. Patterson is employed full-time as a special education teacher at Pattonville High School.

Patterson played four seasons of basketball at Carterville High School (Ill.) and was an all-state honorable mention basketball selection in 2001 and 2002. He went on to play two seasons at John A. Logan and one at Fontbonne.

He married Erin Parmley of Murphysboro, Ill., on Oct. 1, 2011.
