Assistant Coach, Volleyball
Joe Deimeke begins his first season as an assistant coach for the Washington University in St. Louis volleyball team in 2013.
Deimeke joins the Bears' program after spending four years playing professional volleyball in Europe. Most recently, he helped the RWE Volleys in Bottrop, Germany, win the 2013 Deutsch Second Bundesliga Championship. In 2012, Deimeke reached the Deutsch Bundesliga quarterfinal with Evivo-Duren.
As a member of Boldklubben Marienlyst, Deimeke won back-to-back Danish League Championships in 2010 and 2011. He also played on the 2011 Danish Cup Champion and 2010 Nordic Champion teams. Deimeke was named a 2011 Danish Dream Team All-Selection.
While playing in Europe, Deimeke also gained four years of club coaching experience. He was the youth volley coach in Bottrop, Germany, in 2012-13. Prior to that, Deimeke was the Tarup men's volleyball club coach in Odense, Denmark, in 2010-11. He also served as the 15 & under youth volley coach in Odense from 2009-11.
Deimeke played four years of collegiate volleyball at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Mo., where he was a 2007 NAIA All-American. He played high school volleyball at DeSmet Jesuit High School in St. Louis. Deimeke was a two-time all-state selection and was named the 2004 St. Louis Post-Dispatch player of the year.
A native of St. Louis, Mo., Deimeke graduated from DeSmet in 2004. He earned his bachelor's degree in business communication from Lindenwood in 2008.
