Dennis Snep
Assistant Coach/Running Backs
Dennis Snep begins his sixth season as an assistant football coach at Washington University in St. Louis. Snep, who will coach the running backs, arrived on the Danforth Campus after coaching high school football in Illinois for 38 years.
After serving as a graduate assistant coach at Illinois State University in 1968, Snep moved to Belleville East High School were he served as an assistant coach for 30 years and as a director of athletics from 1995-98.
He moved to Belleville West High School in 1999 and returned to teaching and became the head football coach. Snep guided the Maroons to a 27-47 overall record in eight seasons before retiring in 2007. He was inducted into the St. Louis Metropolitan Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2009.
Snep, a Chicago, Ill., native, received his bachelor’s degree in physical education from Southeast Missouri State University in 1968. He earned a master’s degree in education in 1969 from Illinois State University, and a second master’s degree in organizational psychology from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville in 1986.
Snep is married to Margie Snep, and the couple has three grown children.
